My OHP Curriculars
HC 2401: Ohio Honors Engagement Lab (Fall 21) - Dean Titsworth
For my Ohio Honors Engagement Lab class my freshman year, my first OHP course at Ohio University, I was able to connect with members of my cohort and collaborate with them on developing social media plans for a local organization called the Sugar Bush Foundation. The Foundation focuses on “[restoring] the environment, [strengthening] local food systems, and [growing] a resilient economy” (ohio.edu), and our task was to break into teams to focus on different platforms for the organization to maximize their community engagement and showcase their projects.
COMM 2400: Comm Innovation (Spring 22) - Dean Titsworth
For my Comm Innovation reflection, I dove further into my experiences with my cohort in HC 2401 and our Sugar Bush Foundation social media project. This reflection allowed me to understand how I can better collaborate with others and understand that any input or suggestion is good, that my opinions and thoughts are valid in a group project, and that I have the opportunity to branch out and work with others to create things bigger than ourselves, something I’ve seen myself grow with during my time at Ohio University.
COMM 2420: Comm Innovation Studio (Fall 22) - Dr. Novak
For my Comms Innovation Studio course, we focused on self-guided projects that align with our personal interests and potential career paths. I chose to focus on a virtual collaboration project in which I arranged a cover of Running Up That Hill, asked multiple friends of mine to virtually send me tracks, and challenged myself to do all of the vocal editing, mixing, and mastering for the project.
HC 2620: Intro to Ethical Leadership (Spring 23) - Dr. Rizzo
For my Intro to Ethical Leadership class, we discussed multiple types of leadership styles and how we could better incorporate understandings of our own and different leadership styles into our lives to grow into well-defined leaders. This has allowed me to better understand how to communicate and collaborate in different situations and group projects, such as my experiences in the Schey, at work, in different classes, etc.
COMM 3400: Comm Innovation Studio II (Fall 23) - Dr. Edmondson
For my second Comms Innovation Studio course, I decided to create a website for me to display my creative projects and services, mainly to understand how I could not only promote myself as an audio engineer, but also how I could use such skills to create a website for my friends and I to start a business as a trio specializing in full-production for a cappella groups.
HC 2905: Getting Your Point Across (Spring 24) - Dr. Rizzo
For my Getting Your Point Across class, we focused on how to effectively maximize our public speaking and presentation abilities, understanding how to balance our sentence structure, what content to prioritize in our slideshows, how to balance our time effectively, and more. Students from the class had an opportunity to present their current or recent research findings at a “Works In Progress” conference to a live audience, utilizing our skills from the class to present on a topic of our choice relative to our major and creative or professional works.
